Talks to secure a new deal at the Etihad Stadium fell through this week after a series of injuries sidelined De Gea for most of the season.

Now the 33-year-old is ready to start his recovery from his latest injury by focusing on his new club.

The Spain goalkeeper has missed just two games this season โ€” at Arsenal and against Chelsea โ€” when he was involved with the first team.

De Gea will spend the second half of the campaign looking to bring his career back to the next level.

The World No. 1 says he doesnโ€™t want to play second fiddle to David de Gea.

Now the ball is in his court to decide if he will continue his move to the City Ground or leave for a bigger club such as Manchester City.

De Gea told Spainโ€™s El Periรณdico: โ€œIโ€™m not in a hurry to leave. Manchester City is in front of me and I feel I can continue to improve my game with the squad I have.โ€

The Spain goalkeeper was joined on the international tour by former Manchester United and Spain goalkeeper Gerd Muller, who retired in 2009 after more than 20 years of playing football.

De Gea, who joined City from Barcelona for a then world record ยฃ75.9 million back in September 2008, also took his wife, Andrรฉs, and teenage son, Manuel, to England this summer and plans to return to Spain before the end of the season for some family holidays.

The former first team, silverware and European Cup winner said he had been in contact with his new teammates. Muller is one of his new teammates.

On this trip, De Gea also took his kids to see the City of Manchester Stadium after he retired.

Meanwhile, David de Geaโ€™s club side, Barcelona, are not in talks with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho about a new contract.

Mourinho believes United have only improved since he took charge at Old Trafford in August.

The Portuguese coach has revealed that De Geaโ€™s arrival at Old Trafford has helped them win 11 of their last 14 games.

โ€œThe club believes we now have a good team and we feel it will be good if we can go on like this. You can say theyโ€™re playing with a little bit more confidence,โ€ Mourinho told reporters following Barcelonaโ€™s
